tagging people in forum posts

A few times I would have liked to be able to tag certain 'people of mountainproject' in forum posts.

What do you mean by "tag"?

if there is a forum post that I know my buddy would be interested in, I can include him in the thread by adding his name in a comment so that he gets notifications for the thread
