Howdy, I'd just like to hear from any of you all that have any experience with stretching plastic double boot shells, got a new pair of Scarpa Omegas and am thinking they'll need a little more width for anything thicker than ski socks.

Maybe have a ski shop blow them out like ski boot shells?

I'll be in Bozeman this week, there a best place to go for that?

I think you may be out of luck. Stretching works best on a leather boot. You might be able to adjust for a "hotspot", but not for a boot that is a half-size too small for you.

Best advice I've gotten so far is to go ahead and cook the liners first, did that and we'll see.

The shells are the right size, just seem a bit narrow, went to an expert boot fitter and the standard "punch out" that works with many ski boots will NOT work with these due to the type of plastic (pebax)--they'd just spring back to their original shape. What would work is to take them to a good cobbler and heat them up a bit and leave them on a stretcher overnight.

I have a pair of Scarpa Omegas and had the same problem with width around the ball of the foot. When in Juneau AK. I went into Foggy Mtn. shop and they Heated them on the outside w a heat gun and then put in a cobblers stretch device and opened them up a bit. It worked great and I am a happy ice climber again. Good luck.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
