Anyone know of anywhere to legally camp in Flagstaff right now? I will be there next weekend for a night. Just passing through. I dont mind paying to camp just so it is a reasonable amount. (Under 20 bucks) i just have one tent. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Dan, there is free camping near the Priest Draw (just beyond the parking lot). That's not too far from town.

Here is a useful site:

If you want free camping, just do a map search and you'll find lots of Nat'l Forest stuff. A good campground near Flag is located on Lake Mary Road, heading east to the Pit. It's a pay campground and the bonus is climbing next to it!

Dan,
I believe it is still illegal to sleep in a vehicle in Flagstaff
city limits.
There is a lifetime of free camping in the National Forests outside town (just move spots every two weeks), but a lot of gates are locked right now with the mud conditions. If you are "just passing through" check the fringes of the Forest lands, the further from town the drier it will be and less hassle.
There is a KOA campground up on Hwy. 89 north, by Flagstaff Mall.
Good luck...

If you're just passing through and looking to throw a tent down quickly for some sleep, we often do this national forest primitive camp action:

Take exit 190 off of I-40.
Turn north off exit.
After a very short distance turn left (west) on FSR 518 (dirt).
Follow FSR 518 parrallel to interstate for 0.8 miles.
Road bends to the right. Follow for an additional 1.8 miles.
Make right onto road 9011K.
Go down 9011K for 0.2 miles and there is a good spot or three on the left for camping.

Note this area isn't too far from the interstate so you can still hear the traffic a bit but it gets the job done. Also, there is decent national forest camping 5 to 7 miles north of Flag on highway 180

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
