Our family member Shaun is overdue from a solo Gannett Peak trip.

He departed Green River Lakes Trailhead Thursday morning, Aug. 20, 2026, planning to take the Tourist Creek route to Gannett Peak and return Saturday afternoon/evening, Aug. 22.

Search & Rescue and law enforcement are actively involved.

We are specifically trying to locate anyone who was in the Green River Lakes / Upper Green River / Three Forks Park / Tourist Creek / Gannett / nearby CDT area between Aug. 20–23.

If you were there, please consider checking:

• Phone photos/videos, including backgrounds
• GPS tracks / Strava / Garmin / AllTrails data
• Geotagged photos
• Memories of solo hikers or campsites
• Any observations from Tourist Creek

We do not know what clothing or gear Shaun was carrying. Attached photos are recent identification photos only and do not show confirmed clothing from this trip.

Potentially relevant information should be reported to Sublette County Sheriff’s Office / Dispatch: 307-367-4378.

Thank you. Even a small observation may help establish his timeline.

Best of luck. . . that's a lot of wild country out there. . . hoping for a good ending to this.

We are so relieved and grateful for the rescuers and the other hikers. The rescue efforts combined with information from the community that helped pinpoint his location saved his life

Rachel, do you think that you could share some of his story once things have calmed down? I'm sure that we've all experienced some degree of "I think this looks right...?" when we're fatigued, and hearing his observations and takeaways would be a healthy reminder.

I look at the Cowboy State Daily most mornings with my coffee. I was thrilled to see this news today. Congrats! And yes, after the dust settles maybe he'll have a story to tell. An interview with CSD?
