What's up with the RMNP Guidebook?

Someone other than Gillet is currently working on a new Estes guidebook. Not sure the timeline but I'm optimistic that we might see it soon.

Except there are still new routes going up at certain areas in the Estes Valley with some pretty well populated new areas.
And that's 2 reasons why the new book isn't out. Somebody's been really busy and some new area isn't quite done.

Hate to be off subject again but great sand dunes national Park/preserve is underrated for 13ers, the great sand dunes national Park/preserve is 233 square miles total and 65 sq miles of preserve, there are 6 named mountains exceeding 13,000' in only 65 SQ miles on the preserve 

Rocky mountain national Park on the other hand is 415 square miles and is only 20 mountains above 13,000' 

That means there is double the concentration of 13ers in the great sand dune national preserve (GSDNP) than RMNP

There's a 13er every 10 square miles at great sand dunes national preserve 

There's a 13er every 20 square miles at RMNP

My point is not that that the great sand dunes park/persevere has more 11ers or 12ers but my point is that it is not just a bunch of sand and is more concentrated per sq mile with 13ers than RMNP but make sure to wear orange if hiking the preserve during hunting season

La garita caldera might have been a 9 but we are unsure because of overlapping volcanos that took place more recently than la garita caldera and high elevation erosion could be covering the true extent of la garita caldera 

La Garita caldera was the only volcano that was potentially a 9, Its still debatable if la garita is bigger than wah wah, however wah wah was not a 9, la garita caldera might have been a 9

If anything else Blanca is #2 to elbert and elbert is gentle and thus humbles all mountains

I won't lie I like the name Panacea but as long as you don't take it as a joke or something 

But everything south of book cliffs until pastora peak Utah keeps canyon lands but South Colorado "Panacea" gets arches

That will always be the case, it’s like waiting for the conveyor belt to stop. Do the book or give it over to someone who will

Or, alternatively someone else could actually go and climb all of the hundreds (or thousands) of routes in the area that Bernard has, explore some of the obscure places that Bernard has, or get to know the area better by developing obscure crags into user friendly climbing areas. And document it all. Like Bernard has.

I don't think Bernard owes anything to anyone in terms of getting a new guidebook published. I've known him for a very long time, and whatever he is saying about this new guidebook and it's dateline, he's not being dishonest or insincere. Bernard is a good, honest guy. He's climbed in the Park and the Estes Park Valley since he was a little boy, and has put out many guidebooks to share his vast knowledge of such a huge and complex area. And my best guess is that he has not made a substantial amount of money for any of it, compared to the time he has spent on these guidebooks. 

I know he's a busy family guy, and if he says that he will put out this guidebook at a particular time, he will. Period. He is in no way the keeper of beta that the rest of us don't have access to.
