60 dollars for a BD locker?!?!?
Ummm when did lockers start to cost as much as a cam? |
lol you haven’t checked the price of cams recently have you.. |
I bought a used grid lock magnetron for $40 off mp, thought it was a pretty good deal |
Plenty of climbers have no desire to use a megnetron, me included. Yeah, I might be missing out on the 'best' or whatever, but I'm perfectly happy with screwgates and twistlockers. BD knows that the people who adore magnetrons will probably fork up $60 for one. It's not exactly rocket science. Besides, in the grand scheme of things, a $60 biner that will probably outlive you is quite acceptable cost-wise. |

clearly a gourmet item $55 full price at https://blackdiamondequipment.com/products/rocklock-magnetron-carabiner |

We Canadians are paying less for the new iteration of the Magnetron Rocklock, and we're probably paying less for lots of other climbing gear as well. Gotta love Trump's tarrifs, eh? |

Khoiwrote: DoNt MaKe EnErYtHiNg pOlItIcAl!!!1!1! /s Y'all are paying a lot less for many things. Climbing gear is just the tip of that iceburg lol Thank Zeus I climbed enough to booty a good portion of my gear. 60 for a locker is bananas. That's what my last resole cost! |

Michael Spiesbachwrote: Check out the Petzl Vulcan! We use these for rigging work, the prices keep going up. Sigh… |

This is srs biz. Or, you could just not buy one? It's a free country, exercise your freedumb. |
Was recently climbing in Europe and prices were not really any better (were not better) … especially with many places having a 20 percent sales tax… |
Y'all screamed you wanted the magnetron back, whadidya think was gonna happen? |
Join American Alpine Club and enjoy the Black Diamond discount it's still expensive but almost half off. |
magnetron's were always overpriced gimmicky bullshit. So enjoy your expensive bullshit, yolo. |

The Flying Dutchmanwrote: eBay people heard the screaming and sells them for 130 |

You would hope that the largest climbing brand in America had more innovation going for it than reskinning their 13-year-old carabiner and selling it for 200% the price it sold for originally. I hope this is not a trend setter where climbing turns into trail running with brands like Satisfy and Raide selling shorts and shirts for double the price of Arc'teryx. With all the new cams coming out, I was hoping they'd have something more compelling. |
For that price, I’d expect a wireless-enabled carabiner, with a phone app to let me check its lock status and load history! |

Adam Wwrote: Unfortunately an Expertvoice rep told me that BD discontinued the discount for both AAC and Access Fund members recently. |

Kevin Yinwrote: That's a bummer although it seemed like it was the bare minimum discount anyway. A single 20% off coupon per year is better than nothing, but it was a disappointment to see that's all it was. |

Ima get 6 of 'em and make a necklace like Flavor Flav style. Think the gym chics will dig it? |
The market for used magnetrons is about to crash and I’m gonna laugh so hard at everyone who hoarded em for years thinking they would be the next silent partner. |
Tony Danzawrote: Kinda like what happened with Silent Partners on eBay now that the new Roc Solo is about to become widely available - cheaper (though still expensive), lighter, smaller, and better all around... |
