El Cap doubled in size and a 7 year old just “climbed” it….

Tanner Jameswrote: JFC. Clearly there isn’t a line he won’t cross. I’m not even religious and he’s the only person I’ve met who I truly believe is going to hell. Yeah he seems to always be cowering behind his children or quizzing people as to why they have pronouns in their profile and what they mean. Fucking grow up. It’s funny cause I initially mistook him for an actual child because he’s even shorter in person than he appears in pictures. Like a little keebler elf. “Big jacked guy”.. Oh please.. Bitch everyone is a big jacked guy compared to you. |

Daniel Shivelywrote: Oh, sorry. High road Shively. With your logic here, every dirt bag who doesn't read news or online spew needs some form of shame or punishment for participating in this media stunt. That is BS, it's all on Joe. Your logic is similar to recent politics where the little guys all take the fall for the untouchable big guy just cause it's easier to go after them. BTW I personally know a handful of older and way experienced dirtbags that lurk all around the country so don't act like those folks are some kind of fantasy and everyone grew up to be a perfect member of society with nice houses and enough gear to conquer any task. |

M Mwrote: Do you seriously believe that any climber, dirtbag, pro, old, young, that has the chops to work on, as Michael Vaill stated, a free Nose ascent, wasn’t perceptive enough to realize what they were involved in? Michael Vaill also stated that the older climber knew Joe from the previous season’s debacle. As I stated earlier, climbers who involve themselves in spectacles on the most iconic wall on earth should be prepared to face public scrutiny for their actions. My logic is nothing like current politics because current politics involves no logic, only corruption. I also know a few older itinerant climbers and none of them would go anywhere near the likes of Joe Evermore. I think you have a misguided perception of my lifestyle as well. Have a great evening. |

Joe being a creep should be one topic the entire climbing community can rally behind |

Chris Bwrote: Rally behind and focus on. Going after anyone else is like jailing drug users while the upper level dealers get rich. And honestly I hope the park fines and bans Joe although this probably won't happen since most government agencies have been stripped to the bare bones.

Every member of Joe’s party was compensated in some way, IMO. He just forgot to get a NDA from the one guy he added to the mix. This is Joe’s profession, he is a professional charlatan. He has been working on this project for years. As Daniel said, we are the ones entitling him to his adventures by making them possible. He is not a climber, he will never get up a wall on his own. Even his kids, who have now been “climbing” for several years now are not climbers. (Edit): In my opinion caring fathers don’t use their children as shields, they stand on their own and guide their children. Joe is not a caring father, if he was he wouldn’t use his children as tools. . |

Kevin Strickerwrote: Good points. I would only suggest shying away from the toxic "real men" do's and dont's argument. Joes behavior is disgusting regardless of his gender. |

I agree, I restated my position. |

Boreal Strutwrote: I understand your point to Kevin, but we just happen to be talking about a male who makes videos on masculinity and what it means to be a “real man”. Someone who says their film will be about real men raising boys to become men. Pointing out that his behavior directly contradicts this is very relevant. |

Climbin Shittwrote: I agree, and I think that within the argument, if we reference the "real men" solution to JE's take on what that means to him, we are perpetuating the concept that certain behaviors qualify someone to be a "real man". JE's project is a total dumpster fire that can only serve to warp the minds of impressionable young people who may be trying to validate themselves through social identity, and that includes his kids. This fucker really gave us a lot to unpack lol |

I wish we would, as a culture, rediscover how nice it is to do cool things and not have to point a camera at yourself all the time. The constant need for “content creation” is such a cancer but it’s become inseparable from the way we consume information now. For that reason I’m guilty of indulging in the slop as much as anyone, but climbing has always been a nice escape from it, in part because of the emphasis on not spraying. Every other culture I observe or am part of is spray spray spray. I have chronic content fatigue. |

Boreal Strutwrote: Agreed! I’ve seen Ween 3 times including one small venue show just outside of their home town of New Hope, Pa. That show was late ‘90’s and my ear‘s are still ringing. Awesome Sound! ps. I would’ve praised MM for his video but he would have told me I touch my own tooter, I’m not THE STALLION, and I should return to my mushroom festival in HELL! LOL! |

Climbin Shittwrote: Gender roles aside his behavior is actually super similar to those weird pagent moms. And managing the criticism while talking in the third person from his kids Instagram accounts is in the upper stratosphere of cringe. I wonder how the guy hauling felt knowing part of the 300lb load was for boardgames for photoshoot props and not water and food as they’re getting dehydrated on day 6 on the wall |
