Bay to SoCal Summer Climbing Recommendations
I'm thinking about a mid-late june trip, most likely solo, from the south bay area to LA/OC. I would like to get some climbing done along the way, but a lot of the areas i know of or am interested in checking out in general seem really hot and not great in the summer. Unless i can find partners, I will most likely be bouldering with my two pads and TR Solo-ing sport/trad routes, so toprope accessible is a big plus. I'm a beginner/intermediate, if that matters. I know the climbing in the valley and tuolumne is fantastic and I might start there with a friend but I'll most likely be in the valley a ton this summer so I'm looking for other places on the way. I can also go a little farther south when im in/coming back from SoCal if necessary. Other things I'm looking for: - not too far out of the way, I'm not going to have a ton of days but willing to do a fair bit of driving - nearby dispersed camping, but also not too off-grid. I'll be sleeping in my car and am a beginner at that, so if there are crazy logistics involved that probably wouldn't be ideal. - near enough a grocery store that I can find food traveling to and fro - not very buggy as I'm quite allergic to mosquitos, but sometimes can't be avoided Please let me know if anyone has any recommendations! |

is there anything tr accessible in the mammoth/bishop area? |

Get Mammoth & Bishop boulding guides, lots of Bouldering around June Lake and on the volcanic tablelands, when the Happy/Sad boulders are starting to get too hot. Many of these have <5 minute walks, and easy parking. There were 2 RV at the Bachar Boulders when i was last there. |
