Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a climbing partner for Squamish for about 7 days sometime between July 8–17.
I’d like to climb mostly trad and multipitch, with some sport climbing mixed in. I’m especially interested in spending time on The Chief and getting on classic lines that make sense for our combined experience and comfort level.
I lead trad up to around 5.10d and sport up to 5.12+, but I’m not going up there to chase grades. I’ll be there for “vacation”. I’m hoping for good climbing, smart decisions, clear communication, and a partner who is psyched for long days and a solid adventure.
A little about me: my name is Carlos, 48, originally from Guatemala and now living in Southern California. I’ve been climbing for 22 years — about 15 years bouldering, 10 years sport climbing, and 3 years trad climbing. I’m very fit, 144 lbs, and comfortable putting in long days when the objective calls for it.
I have a full kit: rope, rack, draws, etc. A #4 and #5 could be useful depending on the route, but otherwise I should be well covered.
Partner-wise, I’m looking for someone mellow, reliable, safety-minded, communicative, and fit for long days. I appreciate a low-ego partnership where both people can talk honestly about risk, energy, comfort level, and goals. Bonus points if you enjoy good conversation, coffee, and a glass of wine after climbing.
I especially welcome thoughtful climbers 30+ who value a respectful, safe, communicative partnership.
Logistics: I’ll likely stay in a hotel in Squamish and I’m happy to coordinate lodging if that makes sense. I’ll be renting a car from Vancouver and would be happy to drive both of us from Vancouver to Squamish.
Send me a message if your dates line up and you’d like to talk routes, experience, goals, and logistics.
