agreed. Taking a small pendy or having to tram could be crazy!!!! Going splat is a way better option.
I think the point was that sometimes you don’t have access to the belay side of the rope, as it is not running parallel or near to the route.
I am a little unclear how you could have the rope running above the carabiners at the anchor if there was tension on both sides of the rope. Unless there was a LOT of twist in the rope, which I have experienced but it’s obviously something to avoid.
