“Last Rights” needs last rights

Last years was bad, this years is genuinely unlistenable. Used to be a fun annual episode, now it’s a bummer at best. Time for the bugle Chris |

I used to get so stoked for Taps. I agree that this year was a bit of a let down. Kalous said he was sick, so I’m cutting some slack and hoping that it’s back in the grove next year. |

Idk man, I had a lot of laughs listening to it. Maybe not the best one ever but I was cracking up driving and listening to some of the calls he played. |
|

You can always not listen to it if you don't like it! I'm gonna keep listening. |

Unlistenable? To each their own, I listened to the whole thing and had some great laughs. I mean, it's a single podcast episode that nobody is making you listen to. If you feel this strongly enough about this to make a forum post, perhaps you should call in next year and tell Chris how bad you think his recent taps/last rights episodes were? |

Probably James burner acct. Like they said, fuck you James. A couple years ago someone said they're TAPSing TAPSing TAPS. Agreed! |

My wife and I listened to it non stop during a drive the other day. Last Rights didnt miss a beat. We had a really good laugh and also really appreciated the section about climbing after having a kid because we are 2 months away from having our first born and I think she really needed to hear Mary share her thoughts on it to help with some of those weird expectations when she comes back to the wall. Covered all the bases. |

To each their own. |

Enjoyed the Roomba belay talk. Enjoyed the guy STOKED on the community. Enjoyed the whole episode. It's a podcast. Pretend like its 2013 and don't take the medium so seriously. Delete the episode if it's not for you. |

B Ywrote: Dude when they played the call from that woman and introduced the (very woman-specific) topic and then the one guy cracks a joke that the men will discuss it, I absolutely lost it haha Clearly making a mansplaining joke, totally in jest and it was such good comedic timing. That was one of the funniest moments of the whole episode. |

I liked the taps episode. But I don't listen to every episode of the enormocast; I'll skip it if the guest isn't someone I'm interested in. So, to each their own , just don't listen if you don't want to. I've (grudgingly) come to find that I enjoy the repartee between climbers just ranting about unimportant climber shit more than interviews with strong pro climbers - and for that reason I now listen to the runout more anyway. Taps is just the runout with more people and more booze. 👍👍 Besides , it's obviously fun for them to record and put out. They have a good time. It doesn't all have to be made for us, the consumer who gets to listen and criticize for free. |

If you enjoy repartee and banter, you might enjoy the Careless Talk podcast. Hosted by Aiden Roberts and Sam Prior, both very thoughtful, accomplished climbers. As for Taps 2026, it was OK. Not their funniest but I welcome any genuine humor in the climbing space! |

3 or maybe 4/5-star episode for sure but Kalous is indeed the man and the Enormocast must live on; one day all the crusties will be gone and climbing will not be the same. |

Bolt the creek prob gonna pick up some steam in 2026 |

“Last Rites” (I am also fun at parties) |

apogeewrote: I don’t even rant about it. It’s not worth it. You cant convince someone that something they lost without ever experiencing is better than what they have. |
