Curious what the conditions are like at Tahquitz right now and if it seems climbable this weekend, specifically Saturday 2/14. Thank you very much!

It's rainy today and there's snow in the forecast Sunday ish but the climbing has been perfect even on the shady side.  The temps are dropping but there's still plenty on the sunny side depending on what type looking for.  Happy climbing

Thank you! We were looking at Fingertrip. How much sun does it get?

Get a later start the sun doesn't hit it until early afternoon.  It's a left facing corner for the first 2 1/2 pitches and then gets more in the sun.  The top of the first pitch is also in the sun. Have fun! It's a great rout!

I’m not sure if this year is just an oddity, but I’ve been able to get a ton of days TRSing at Tahquitz/Suicide with very nice weather. Usually I’d be climbing Woodson or JT.

Idyllwild weather has been more hot than cold and the rock has been dry.

I guess that will all change this week, as almost a foot of snow is forecasted to fall. I’d be curious to know how long it takes for West and South facing routes to become climbable again versus the North and Northwest facing routes.

Anyone able to give a Tahquitz/Suicide conditions update? Any chance they'll be dry by the end of the week?

I was going for it....highs in Idy are 60 + tomorrow  70+ in Idy proper starting Thursday... suicide seems a safe bet at least, right?

Hope this helps!

What they said 👆. Humber park proper is closed leaving very little parking below.  The main trail up to lunch rock is soft shin to knee deep snow.  The trails along the base will be much deeper from the snow that came off the rock.  There's enough snow on top and on the ledges and temps are warm so everything will seep water for a while.

Thanks all, this is helpful. Makes for a very easy decision to go elsewhere for now.

“Suicide Rock also has patchy snow across the face- the north face in particular is likely to be holding more. Conditions are wet as the snow melts, and the trail is uniformly covered in snow.”…going to stay in the hot desert

I was there yesterday, the east side climbs (traitor horn, coffin nail, open book etc) are dry. Anything climber's left of lunch rock still has patches of snow.

As of yesterday, whodunit and everything right of it is dry and open. Any remnants of snow around Lily or Suicide are rapidly melting. Still a few big patches of deeper snow in the NW gully, but passable to hike it. Excellent climbing conditions for March, but plenty of loose rock and battered trail all over from the winter storms.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
