I have a four-day weekend and will visit Tarija in Spain. Crag recommendations?

Where exactly in Spain is that location? Never heard of it before.

There’s a Tarifa in Bolivia… (?????)

If you mean Tarifa in southwestern Spain, the San Bartolo crag is near there and while it's not one of Spain's signature crags, I thought it was great. Mostly single pitch sport on solid patina sandstone but there's a few trad and multipitch routes sprinkled in. Lots of moderates if that's a consideration. You can chase shade pretty easily and then go for a dip in the Atlantic afterwards.

There's some info on San Bartolo here: https://www.mountainproject.com/area/111032918/san-bartolo

It's a nice spot! I wish I'd had more time to explore. Friendly folks were climbing there. Good info in this book, too: https://www.climbing-guide.eu/climbing-guidebook-escalar-en-cadiz-10737/

Thanks for the info, Charles. I guess I didn't Google deep enough. I don't know about the Emmanuel (OP), but I almost prefer these "not signature" crags. I'm adding this to my Spain list if I ever get down there. We have a lot of these little crags around Barcelona and it's really nice to climb in these relatively uncrowded places frequented by mostly locals. Maybe that's what the OP is after as well.

Thank you, everyone. I’ve spent much of my life climbing at non-signature crags or developing new ones. I really enjoy these places and the community that climbs there.

It seems that autocorrect changed my original message. I will be in Taifa, Spain, this weekend for four days. I’ll let you all know what I discover. I’m climbing solo, so I’m not sure how much I’ll accomplish.

If there are any climbing hostels near the crag, please share the information. When I return, I’ll post some photos and comments.

Rumor is that Tangier also has a couple of small crags, so I will spend some time looking for those. (Share what I find.)

Best,

Emmanuel

Taifa isn't located in Spain, I'm afraid:

Ghana it is.

Thanks. I also appreciate all those who noticed the typo.

Found the crag and I will bring my rack for that beautiful handcrack next time.

I tend to love the small local gems too. In this case, I highly recommend a visit. Worth a weekend for sure.

Watch the goats, they used my rental car bumper as arubbing post.
