You could use a sling instead, but this normally expensive shock absorber is on sale for about the same price as a sling and sounds like a good idea?:

That Arbsession site Ryan referenced also still has the standard Edelrid sliderlocks on sale for $10, I bought a half dozen several weeks back with no probs, would be a good way to combo that edelrid screamer to hit the free shipping.
