Bob Robertson passed away at Shelf Road of a heart attack 1/31/25

This is sad. He was upbeat and positive and friendly and caring, every time I ran into him. Big, big smile! Last year, bought the bundle of his new climbing guidebook pamphlets for obscure areas around Colorado. Now I really will have to go visit these places. RIP Bob, a true lifer, thanks for all the great routes.

Hear the sad news through the grapevine.  Although I have not talked to him in years, I climbed a fair amount with Bob from 2010-2014 and he showed me so many random little spots in Southern CO(most of which I never would have climbed at https://www.mountainproject.com/area/108871091/manassa).  He was always in City Rock in the mornings and down for an adventure on the weekend.  One morning he walked me and a friend into the "secret" Ice climb while admitting he hadn't been there in 20+(got us right to the correct guard rail post in the dark with no issues).  Great human being and I'm sorry for his Family and the community's loss.  Semper Avanti Bob

I've been climbing for quite a while and have come to be able to recognize the "lifers". Bob was the epitome of a climbing lifer. I first climbed with him at El Portrero in 2004. There was a day where Bob did a 5.12 route on TR. I believe he was in his late 50's at the time so this was something he was really happy about. He was so happy I remember him kicking the hacky sack solo for at least a half hour that evening. He was a climber through and through and I won't ever forget him. He was obviously inspired to be a sport climbing route developer so we know he will be remembered for his work ethic in cleaning and bolting sport climbs. R.I.P.

As we approach the one-year milestone of my grandfather's passing and what would have been his 80th birthday around the corner, we are reminded of the profound impact he left on our lives. The first year without him has been incredibly tough, filled with cherished stories, memories, and the painful realization of what we will never see or hear again. In celebration of his life, our family has created a lasting tribute page dedicated to his memory, where we can share stories, memories, songs, and videos. We would be deeply grateful if anyone who knew him would share their stories and memories of their time with my grandfather, so we can preserve the legacy of an extraordinary father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend for generations to come<3
