Scarpa Mescalito Planet (Out of Production) Replacement

Really liked the width, balance of heavy construction w/ good climb-ability, and good breathability vs. shoes with all leather upper; but looks like they're not being made anymore and can't find my size (42.5) online anywhere. Any recommendations on approach shoes that would be a good replacement? Has anyone tried the Scarpa Rapid LT? Not open to any sportiva shoes due to narrow footbed. 

I love the new rapids! I like them better than the mescalitos tbh. 

I have the Rapid XT and they are my favorite approach shoes ever. The LT is not much lighter but probably cooler in the summer. The XTs hike better than most approach shoes I’ve had and climb just as well. I admit to being a bit of a Scarpa fan boy, but have approach shoes from LaSpo and BD as well. 

Yeah I love my Rapid XT's for my wide feet. The Rapid XT and LT seem to stand directly as TX4 (original wide version, not the new narrower Evo), TX3 counterparts. I own 4 pairs of Scarpa shoes/boots and the wideish fit that does not put side pressure on my foot is carried on in the Rapids.

I've had 2-3 pairs of the rapids. Overall I'm a fan. They hike wayyy better than approach shoes and the sticky rubber is good enough for what I do, which usually amounts to slightly technical approaches and descents. However, I don't think they climb as well as a true approach shoe (these are hybrids, right?) and I think I'd want a different shoe if I did a lot of 5th class climbing in approach shoes. I've noticed sometimes when walking down steep slabs, I'll slip out faster than a full sticky rubber approach shoe.

ur confusing the rapids (hybrid shoe) with the new rapid xt (standard leather approach shoe) and rapid lt (breathable fabric version)

scarpas only really gaff w these shoes was making the breathable ones black. the leather ones will probably be cooler if you're in the sun

Same here. I had the planets and now have the rapids and love them. They have a nice wide footbed and like them better than the mescaline planets as well.
