Stick Clip Master Thread

For anyone interested, I purchased a Redpoint Smith Clip PRO 12 and am super happy with it. Also, added a couple new additions to the list. I also plan to grab a GripClip to throw in my lightweight bag. |

Alex Rwrote: I got one of these a couple years ago (the shorter model, like 12”), and it’s always on my harness now. I beefed up the rigid side with a bit of cloth tape. I’ve used it clipping anchors more than anything, sometimes at the end of the pitch it lets you get clipped just one move sooner. It’s a wuss climber’s dream! |

Has anyone found a painter's pole or stick that actually collapses down to under 2-3 feet and is under 40 bucks? Seems like most poles are either almost as expensive as a stick clip or only go down to 4'. |

I bought a bare stick clip prong by Climbing Taiwan (at HowNot2.com) and glued it into one end of some spare 3/4" pipe. On the other end, I glued a trekking pole basket. Now I can screw it securely onto my trekking poles. Tape two together, and I have 10 feet of reach that collapses down to 26". Total cost: $8 (add in two shockingly-nice-for-the-price Walmart trekking poles for another $20 if you don't have them already.) |

Well we went from 12 entries to 44 now! Please post em up if you know of any other options! |

Jeremiah Whitewrote: This is a great resource, but might I suggest checking the links every 2-4 weeks? A couple of the redpoint ones seem outdated and the amazon carbon fiber one goes to a different pole. I didn't click on any others yet. Thanks for your time. |

I think I got it all updated, let me know if anything is still broken. |

Add another one to the list. |

I saw the Grim Reacher in person today. One notable design flaw: the clip-in point is made from 3D printed plastic and is prone to breaking. Could be solved by attaching a small D-ring from a picture hanging kit, but it would stink to break it off mid-climb. |

Adam Flemingwrote: I bought one of those during the pre-order. It's pricey but very well designed. Machined aluminum head attachment that works great and seems like it will last. Good options for a small on-route stick clip, if you're willing to spend a bit more. But there are adequate cheaper options if price is a major factor for you. |

Big Redwrote: Also looking for this. Under 3ft and extend to 12ft. Some of the prefabs have that spec, but just want the pole. It seems like it shouldn't be so hard but I can't find it. |

Spent a few bucks on velcro to modify my trango clip for lockers. Works well. The clip still works for regular biners as well. |

Outdoor Genes recently came across my feed; I don’t think they’ve been listed here yet. It looks like they have a mini mid-climb stick clip and a longer one. https://outdoorgenes.com/products/og-magic-mini-stick-clip |

Added the Outdoor Genes sticks, looks like a kailas and spire mix? |

How do we feel about a carbon avalanche probe as a stick clip pole? (as seen here https://www.instagram.com/reel/DPO-aGpCk6f/ ) |

Jeremiah Whitewrote: I found this site with a set of instructions, https://www.alphaclimbing.com/blog/2018/5/1/travel-sized-stick-clip and this 320cm pole on backcountry https://www.backcountry.com/mammut-speed-lock-320-probe I haven't tried it, but since the Avant guy uses it, there's probably some merit. |

Brian Cwrote: I have one with a 3D printed pongoose head. Super lightweight and I just flew with it in my carry on. It's pretty floppy in practice and with the printed head, I don't feel confident being able to toss it to set it up. Nice to bring along where weight/size is important but I probably wouldn't choose it as my daily driver. If I can figure out a good way to attach it to my harness, that'll be a game changer. |
