Eric, you are going to need to explain that to me. How is bolting, even if done every 3’ up the whole cliff, more impactful than a hiking trail? Assuming done by hand. Powered drills/vehicles i agree should stay out of parks.

Total aside. What route is Sasha D climbing right now?

John, she is on the Platinum Wall. And given that this thread is supposedly about El Cap free climbing, I’d say that’s not an aside at all compared to all this talk about bolt wars and snowmobile trails!

Wow. An AI attack. Are you proud of yourself? Do you feel like a big impotent man now?

It's unfortunate that you can't read what I wrote, without bending it to suit your apparent tunnel vision. Same goes for Daniel, you both put words in my mouth that aren't there. Nonetheless I will remain hopeful, that sooner or later you figure it out. But I also realize that isn't likely to happen.

So there is no confusion/further misrepresentation: I am not a fan of offroad vehicles, summer or winter.

Good luck man.

And yes, I did edit this post.

I asked Tommy a year ago after he did the heart route with Conner.  he said he had done about 13. definitely in the lead, though babsi, Conner, and nil berry with 7(last I talked with him)_have amazing resumes as well.

She thanks elliot faber and rob miller for prepping the route here. Redbull is saying this is the 4th free ascent.

How many of these  all free climbs were  first ascents of the route ? How many had not been climbed before by the  person who free climbed it ?

Kurt Smith and Scott Cosgrove probably deserve some recognition for coming within 30’ of freeing The Muir in ‘94. Yes, they were busted for using a power drill, but the lack of acknowledgement genuinely baffles me.

I believe Alex and Tommy got the 2nd and 3rd free ascents this fall unless I'm mistaken.

They are credited on my "Long, Hard and Free" list.  It includes things like early and non-100% free ascents.

I am working on updating this list and hosting it on my google page so that it is easier to find.

Their ascent is acknowledged on climbing-history.org

Clint's list is a great resource and I look forward to it being updated and more easily accessible.

Also, sorta not even true. First free solo would have been pete whittaker or maybe even someone else. So first unroped free solo, but technically, you can be free, solo, and also using a rope.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
