anyone have  a line on a mini extendo stick clip small enough to climb with but much longer than a stiffly?  I am getting old.

Home made from a hardware golf ball retriever.  I’ve been using this for more than 20 years.  Fits in the pack nicely.

This one seems cool! https://hangdogclimbing.com/products/magic-wand

Haven't yet tried it myself, but Climbing did a write-up about it.

I think there's 6 options on there

I have the Hang Dog. It requires a special carabiner and is really unstable. The Grim Reacher looks a little better.

I have the Hang Dog one and love it! It's a game-changer, and I 100% recommend it for all sport climbers.

I just got a GrimReacher.  Just about any carabiner will fit and you can also do a loop clip for permas.

I got Isa the Grim reacher for her 67th birthday. Figured we earned it over the years. We have paid our dues so we can cheat with a clean conscience in our golden years.

It works well but seems a bit delicate..

So I have made 2 now, see image below. 1st version was the red one on the right.   It's a pretty flimsy flag pole off amazon.  Reach 63", collapsed is 8".  The draw that goes with it I replaced bolt end with a mad rock biner that you can lock the gate open.  I duct taped a 1/2" piece of Pex tubing to the dog bone.  Pro it's light and small.  More cons though.  Sometimes too short, flimsy, collapses easy with too much rope weight, draw can spin on the end of the ball and once you get to the bolt you placed it on you have to swap it out.

The blue on the left is my 2nd version.  Again a stick off amazon.  Telescoping pickup tool.  Reaches 10'.  Comes with a few different ends but I didn't use them for this.  It has M5 threads on each end, so I could easily add an eye bolt for clipping to harness.  The other end I cut off the end of a broom handle, drilled a hole in the middle and then attached it with a bolt allowing me to use a superclip.  Pros 10' long, 14" collapsed.  Doesn't collapse under rope weight when extended.  A lot sturdier.  Can use regular draws and can also retrieve draws if needed using various techniques.  Cons, none really for us.  My girlfriend still uses both, just depends on the climb.

I thought about having an adapter made out of aluminum but had an old pole laying around so just used it.  So far so good but if it doesn't hold up I might do that, or have one 3d printed.

I have this one and though I’ve only used it twice so far, can confirm it does work great! Just be aware that there is no way to make it stay extended, so you will have to feed the rope out slowly which is a little annoying. But it is extremely lightweight and easy to carry!

How’s the grim reacher working out for everyone? Seems like there was some trouble clipping the rope up in the how not 2 video review. Anyone else have trouble with that bit?

How do you retrieve draws? Doesn't it collapse when pushed?

Grim reacher carries well but feels flimsy. Definitely requires a light touch to extend it with the weight of the rope pulling it down. The biner attachment works well. It also sometimes extends when you go to pull the stick off of your draw. Again feels flimsy. I bought mine from the how not to guys assuming that they tested it and liked it before putting it in their store.

Thanks Nick. Any trouble clipping the rope to a draw that’s already up using the grim reacher?

Anyone use the pronghorn stick clip? Also on the how not 2 site but doesn’t look like they tested it in their video.

I have not clipped a fixed draw with it. we have the trango which is amazeing and rugged but wanted something smaller and lighter for a few scenarios.

Kailas UL stick clip might fit the bill. We got one for flying with because it can pack into a suitcase. We also rigged it up with tape and slings to make a shoulder sling when we went to portrero as an "in case of emergency" solution on some of the longer multipitches. Not the most convenient or comfortable but it didn't get in the way when slung over your back like a rifle.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
