Multi pitch / walk off descent shoe

I’m looking for a lightweight shoe with sticky rubber that can be clipped to the harness on multi pitch climbs but feasible for short walk offs or a little scrambling back to the base.
The evolv cruzer was the perfect shoe for me for this use cases but they seem to be discontinued. Anyone find something similar they are psyched on?

Here are the parameters I am looking for:

- closed toes shoes

- sticky rubber

- clips on to harness

- ideally ~7oz or less per shoe

The astral brewer is one of the best shoes for this application. The 2.0 is the best combination of lightness and durability. They’re designed to be worn sockless which is great for climbing. They can be clipped to a harness and they pack down pretty flat. Rubber is super sticky and the tread is “siped” as its use is mainly designed for wet slippery river rocks.

I bought a pair of Arc'teryx Vertex Speed on sale at REI, and they have been a great walkoff shoe so far. Pretty grippy, but not as grippy as aproach shoes. I think the pair weights 1lb total. The loops to clip are kind of dainty though. Would not trust them in a chimney or offwidth. They are really great on long approaches though, since they're designed to be a hiking shoe rather than an approach shoe.

This sounds crazy but check out Skinner brand/type polymer socks. They're meant for running/every day wear. You can walk on razor blades/nails in them by their advertising/I saw this in person at OR one year. They fold into the size of a pack of cards. Work great for stuff like Eldo, the Back Canyon, the Hulk, and I have even used them for bigger wall offs like the Diamond. They're not "sticky" rubber, and they're not supportive AT ALL, but they're the absolute best super minimalist option in case you're down with that. My one pair has lasted me many years, including being my office/warehouse shoe for work for a couple years.

Try La Sportiva TX2 — they are lightweight (7.5 ounces), feature Vibram rubber, and are great for attaching to a harness. Five Ten Camp Four with Stealth C4 rubber for traction is also a good choice, while Scarpa Drago is suitable for ascents and descents with a closed toe. If you're looking for something more minimalist, Merrell Vapor Glove 4 are lightweight but with slightly less grippy rubber. You can also check out Arc'teryx Konseal FL — lightweight with Vibram rubber, suitable for attaching to a harness.

Lol bot uses Dragos for closed toe descents. I myself prefer to use Solution Comps for closed-toe descents, or occasionally SCARPA Furia Air.

Xero scrambler low is what I use currently for approach, belaying, development, etc. they’re expensive though so wait for a sale

I use TX2 evos for hiking/scrambling and approaches. Love them. Maybe not as minimalist as you want but I have never had them cause any issue/annoyance on my harness.

Though I can't compare with other models.

Norda 002 -> trail runner, but very robust materials

Adidas Terrex Swift Solo -> one of the lightest proper approach

good info on regular approach shoes: https://weighmyrack.com/

another vote for TX2s specifically for multipitch and especially for walk offs.  they crush down and fit into an 15-120L assault pack or clip to harness.  I've also for TX4s that I use for everything else, but keep the Tx2s for lighter construction etc.  climbed the nose at Looking glass in them (lead and follow) so great rubber

slip resistant crocs. i wouldn't do like serious fifth class descents in them but for most things they are lighter and nicer to have on your harness than any other shoe i've tried and offer plenty of traction and are easy and reliable to clip. and fashionable of course. 5oz per shoe.

$300

I use INOV8 X-Talon 225s for exactly this purpose (Size 9 is 225g = 8oz). Very grippy sole for earth, sand or gravel; rubber is 'sticky'; not much cushioning or rise; fits like a rock shoe. Outdoor Gearlabs review.

Inov8 change model numbers frequently but something similar should be available.
