I sent a request on the contact form for someone to at least respond here. Hopefully we get something back, some kind of acknowledgement.

Also, a question about the Mudo and the Mudoble....

Has anybody used the Yumi for cache loop management?  Does it really eliminate the need for stopper knots?  Does it feed (relatively) smoothly...or is it slow and akward?

I've tried the Yomi for a couple of pitches, and also played with it on the ground a bit more. It did not feed smoothly for me; it required significant force and for the pull to be in a fairly specific direction. After two pitches of use with it, my elbow was worn out and painful!

With that said, it also definitely locks up, so I have no worries about using it for cache management and a backup without knots!

I think it's just very sensitive to the rope being used, the carabineer it's mated to, and how and where it's attached the chest harness. I didn't have the patience (or elbow durability) to test out all the combinations until I found one that worked.

When using the Mudo, is it necessary to use the exact chest harness advertised? Can I rig one up like I normally would? This device seems pretty slick, trying to find reasons not to get one. Apologies if this is a previously beaten to death inquiry

I use just a 1" sling chest harness with it, adjustable in length with a water knot. I've found the EL mudo to be very finicky to set up so that it feeds well. Perhaps a better chest harness would help. Moving your body from bending forward, reaching downward to fully extended and reaching upward changes the distance between chest tie in and harness tie in. These movements and the tension vs slack created between these points complicate the mudo's feed.

I am not fond of the yomi, got a freebell to try out, haven't had the chance yet. Then going to try Revo and grigri plus as primaries with freebell backup.

What I do like about the Mudo, is for upright falls it is entirley bomber. No worries there.

I've tried a bunch of commercial chest harnesses, and none of them are as good as just using a double-length sling crossed over the chest & back. The sling allows the Mudo to move around just enough to keep good rope feeding under a range of body motions. I've had no major issues with getting smooth feeding even with a larger ropes (9.8).

Definitely recommend the sling chest harness. I use two single length nylon slings girth-hitched together for my Freebell. It also allows me to offset the attachment point at the front so I can have the FB hang closer to my armpit. It's more comfortable and way lighter than any commercial chest harness option out there.

Can you please provide a pic of your setup? I've not been entirely psyched with my setup, and am not sure how you manage smooth feeding with a good range of climbing movement. BTW, I use a 9.5mm.

Sure, I'll be out climbing this weekend and will try to take some pics of the setup.  I don't mean to oversell it though -- feeding isn't always perfect (especially when the torso isn't held upright), and of course no matter what you do rope feed while traversing is pure shit.

That is what I am talking about.

I've got a TazLov question: anybody used it for LRS with relatively thin ropes (for example Petzl Push Static 9mm).

Thanks.

Anyone here located in the Bay Area and interested in trad and LRS? Looking for educated and experienced partners.

Would be cool to engage with humans instead of internet comments about the topic!

What part of the bay are you in? I’ve been interested in doing the same. I’m in the South Bay near castle rock, but could potentially meet elsewhere too.

I'm not far. I'm busy the next month or so but probably Jan or Feb I'd be happy to meet up and talk trad and lrs. I don't have as many LRS pitches and some of the really accomplished guys, but I've put ~20 pitches on a lot of systems and have around 100 on my favorite system.

I can show off a bunch of different rigs and y'all could try them and see how you like them before committing to one.

Appreciate it. I’ll send you a DM with contact info. Located in San Francisco but open to driving to climb outside.

+1 to a rope solo forum

This thread is quite timely as I'm starting to look into rope soloing and don't do Facebook

Regular GriGri or GriGri + on top rope mode for LRS held upside down...does one catch better than the other?  Is there any differences in feeding?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
