Police/NFS Checkpoint on 276
|

Just a heads up for any Pisgah climbers out there, the police/forrest service had a checkpoint going in and out of the forest tonight. No idea if this will be a recurring thing but just be aware you might be talking to John Q. Law on your way home from climbing. |

Seems an odd place for it unless they were looking for someone specific. |

Emil Briggswrote: It seemed mega weird... However, Pisgah can sometimes feel like the wild west so maybe they felt like they needed to crack down or at least make their presence known?? I asked the guy what this was all about (they had probably 10 cars in the pull off) and he said the NPS rangers were here on special assignment and they were just trying to make sure everyone coming through was up to board. |

I once drove through a ranger security checkpoint on the table rock nc approach road. Long guns drawn and displayed. It seemed quite bizarre at the time |

I heard someone saw them today that they were up on some of the gravel roads clearing out folks camping too long and stuff like that. |

clearance clarencewrote: I think he was just saying they were making sure nobody was getting into trouble out there. Who knows what this was all about. Was out there again today and didn't see 'em. |

clearance clarencewrote: Not quite above board, but not worth wasting our time trying to dig through your backpack to find the weed. |
