Ellen, I've got some of the stuff you're looking for (and more!) I'll shoot you an email later today. I'm in Ned, but work in Boulder so if you didn't wanna drive up the canyon we could meet after work. Also, lemme know if you want a partner for aid climbing! I really enjoy aid climbing, and am more than happy to give very patient belays. |

jon bernhardwrote: Hey Jon, I’m all about sharing beta with fellow MP’ers and helping set folks up for success. That said, I wouldn’t put Wash Column in the “nuts” category—doing it in two days didn’t feel especially challenging or complicated from a systems perspective. I’ve only hauled to the ledge once, but I don’t recall any major hiccups. Now, ask me about the time I hauled loads on Moby Grape in NH to impress a girl (now my wife)… that one might qualify as “nuts.” |

Vertical camping is fun! But I'll make sure not to visit the valley until I can free el cap in a push |

Best bets for the column and hauling is to skip hiking and climb it in a day. |

I'm still in need of ladders |

Also you want to bring some cam hooks and spend some time beforehand learning to trust them. And as many tiny cams as you can procure. You want to avoid placing nuts if at all possible. Offset cams yes but not metolius offsets. Aliens or totems ideal. Adjustable daisies not required regular ones better IMHO. If you haven’t already check out Chris McNamara’s how to big wall climb book, highly recommended. In a pinch you can bypass the whole ledge and the roof pitch by going left on a different route, can’t remember the name. I’m local and will not be big walling any time soon unfortunately. But I have a lot of gear if you want to borrow, hit me up. Recommend spending a lot of time practicing aiding and jugging beforehand :) enjoy! I’m jealous I wanna go to the valley |

If anyone has ideas for other walls that are beginner friendly and don't need portaledge I'm all ears. Only in need of ladders now. Doesn't need to have spreader bar or be in Boulder. |
