So what happened to keeping this thread non-political…. Tone your shit back to zero. Hortman was killed by someone who had a religious conversion and she was the deciding vote on what exactly? |

apogeewrote: Awful situation… |

Hortmans whole family and their dog was murdered by maga who had a hit list of a bunch more Democrats. Maga and the president thought that was just fine. Terrible situation directly the result of this administration and the maga movement. Just to add an interesting twist Kirk was calling for the release of the Epstein files then he gets whacked professionally and tRump immediately blames democrats.......... nice distraction... former Trump associate and now vocal critic, is continuing to double down on comparisons to Charlie Kirk's killing with what happened in Nazi Germany — the assassination of Horst Wessel. "They may not want to hear it, and it may incense them, but the parallels between what the Nazis did then, and what Trump and MAGA are doing today, are striking, chilling—and as any expert on authoritarianism will tell you, straight out of the same toxic, but dog-eared, playbook," |

And just like that this forum takes a nosedive into divisiveness and anger. There's a whole thread for politics on MP. This ain't it. |

I have been deeply sad and unusually conflicted over the killing of Charlie Kirk and despite how strong my own feelings are I don’t want this to be a source of further division between me and people I love. So I took this occasion to pick up the phone and break my six months’ silence with my best friend Mallory. I just said “I heard the news about Charlie Kirk today and I am so sorry.” And we were able to talk, about everything but politics. —- So this guy’s obituary showed up on my Instagram feed this morning and I got curious. What the hell is Hyrox? I was so happy to discover ANOTHER thing I will never do. Maybe you multisport dude types are into stuff like this? Not one of these “workout stations” sounds inviting to me. How about the Bachar ladder? The longer I climb and the longer I wander in wide open spaces the further I get from anything like Hyrox. It might take about the same training to climb the route on this rock I’ve been looking at, which is fine. But I’d rather do the training on the rock and not in the gym. Buck Rogerswrote: Buck - yah I'm not getting sucked deeper into this. It's all whatabout-ism to justify murder. Routh, Boelter, Brown, now add Robinson to the list of people who meet justice for their crimes. Highlight of morning run, had to stop and pull phone out. |

Buck Rogerswrote: it seems like Nick was only bringing up uncomfortable facts for some? That’s not the same thing as espousing anger. But then again, nothing happening makes sense. Trump holding a plane full of visa holding Koreans being deported for not having the “correct visas” an extra day to ask if they could train Americans to do their jobs after arresting them is pretty much laughable. I feel bad for the people being ICEd, but this whole situation could have been avoided. USA may lose South Korea’s Ship building expertise as well as 350B in investments thanks to this. The only people who can put a more level headed perspective are in this thread. We are in a position in our lives where we can offer our combined experiences to at the very least discuss things openly and with much less passion. |

Buck Rogerswrote: Buck this is not directed at you, but to all participants in this thread The reason it devolves so quickly is because this political shit gains traction and therefore it is a self feeding loop. If you want this thread to stay focused on the subject of over 50’s climbing, maybe try rewarding the folks who take the time to try and post up creative climbing content by commenting on their stuff, which then might lead to… you know… an actual conversation about climbing. |
