Want to celebrate the birthday of someone you don’t know? Enjoy climbing new routes in an area you’re profoundly unfamiliar with? Love navigating objective hazard and a sometimes shocking amount of lichen? Well boy do I have an opportunity for you!
This Saturday, 8/2, we’re holding a meet-up at the Castle View Crags (Roped) to celebrate my birthday. Despite what MP says, this area actually has roughly 100 lines from 5.3-5.13 (though the main area we’ll be at is closer to 70). The invite is open to the public, so if you’ve been hearing about Wonderland and want to check it out, or just want to climb that day and can’t seem to scrounge up a partner, feel free to join! There’s sport, trad, mixed, and generally universally easy walk-up TR access. A 60m rope, 12 draws, and a single rack will get you up basically every route. Take a look at the MP pics to get an idea of what the rock looks like.
If you want to join, we’re meeting at the Miller Gulch Trailhead around 8am and hoping to be hiking towards the crags around 8:15. It’s very drop-in/dip-out though, so if you’re not going to make that timeline, shoot me a message and I can get you the details. I’ll also have some guidebooks available to either buy or use for the day, though we’ve added a lot of routes since it was published specifically in this region.
Hope to see some of you out there!
