howdy

Anyone have any leads, or willing to part ways with a hand drill in the Boulder area?

I think I've got one of the old taper bit style hand drills lying around. Lemme look this afternoon for ya.

Yo, turns out I have two other hand drills in my collection! I say "other" because I'm keeping my Petzl Rocpec hand drill

One is the taper shank, old Rawl style hand drill. I think you can even still buy the appropriate taper shank bits on McMaster Carr, though probably not the more desirable straight flute ones. Though those can be made, too, if you know people with the right equipment

The other is a straight shank drill bit holder I made that uses TG style collets. I've got collets for 3/8" and 1/4" drill bits for it.

You're welcome to both of them for free, if you promise that we can put up a new route together, ground up, hand drilling from stances! I've got a couple lines waiting for exactly that kind of adventure   edit: I have plenty of bolts and hangers, too, so don't let the lack of that equipment deter you from saying yes

(P.S. I remember not using emojis when they were first available on phones and websites because I thought they were silly and lacked nuance. My attitude on them changed years ago when I finally understood that they're actually emotional sigils that make online and informal textual communication clearer for me! They're like stage direction for unspoken meaning for me; silent, but necessary to understand the whole situation. Also, I avoided "lol", and I use it somewhat regularly now. I'm like the opposite of a trend setter)
