Looking for recommendations. I have to drive from SLC to SW Wyoming in a couple weeks and I'll have half a day free and I'll be solo. Is there any cool steep 4th class scrambles or just a trail run to a cool summit with good views?
Superior south ridge! 20-30 minute drive from the freeway up LCC. Great summit in the center of the wasatch, very little fall-you-die terrain. Maybe a few moves of 5.5, more if you stay on the ridge proper.
Mt Olympus west slabs is a fun one too, a little less driving but not as cool. Maybe a bit scarier, sustained 5.2. Shorter day if you don't go to the summit, longer than superior if you do.
Thanks again for the suggestion Eric. Went up Superior today and it was perfect - sustained 4th class that kept your attention for something like 2500 vert. My legs are tired!

There are several fall-you-die sections and it has happened.
That said, remember to bring chalk so to do the sit start.
