Climbing shoes made in Boulder

HARDSEND climbing shoes are finally here! At last, I have finalized a shoe design that I think climbers will value.

This shoe is an all-around shoe that does well on slabs, vertical and slightly overhanging walls. It has a pretty flat toe area that makes it good in cracks, but not the best at pulling over roofs. The sole rubber is a new proprietary rubber formula with the hardness in the middle range, in other words it edges and smears well. I can use this rubber to resole shoes, as well.

Most of the shoes I've been making for the last 7 years have been me just messing around, making prototypes but in the last year I was able to take this shoe that has a good balance of comfort and performance. I am starting a limited run of climbing shoes, based on your responses. There will be another two shoe designs available. One is made for edging and the other for pulling/pockets.

Let me know if you're interested and, in the Boulder/Denver/Fort Collins area.

Congrats getting this up and running! How would you say the fit is in terms of width?

How stiff are they? Any major model shoe you’d compare them too? La Sportiva dropped the Kataki’s fully even in Europe so I’m trying to find a replacement

Those look really nice, what size range and price point are you looking at?

The shoes are medium width, they should fit a lot of foot shapes.

The best way to fit shoes is based on the foot print. I'll let people know the exact length and how the width varies between sizes

Shoes are on the harder side. There is a full plastic midsole and one made out hard rubber that does not stretch. The hard rubber midsole makes for better edging but it bends well.

The Kataki has a sharper toe and the way the last edge is shaped different, this shoe is more like the Vapor, or TCpro. I started with my foot shape (that is average) and it ended up with this shoe

The size I currently have are about 36/37 to 45/46 (La Sportiva/Scarpa)

The price is 350 for the shoes and a resole or 100 less without the resole.

Sounds like I'm out of luck on sizing (bigfoot here). Good luck on your new venture!

I'd be interested to see the foot print and how the shoe width varies between sizes.  Also, do you have any information on whether they are low or high volume?

David, I'm using UP Lace due to need for sizes greater than 46.  I couldn't continue to stuff my feet into size 46 TC Pro or Katana Lace though I loved the Katana's.  Very nice to have all day comfort in 47 UP Lace.  Apparently the Italians have decided that there are no good climbers with feet larger than 46.

Jay, thanks for the tip! I tried up laces and they had a bit too much volume. Scarpa makes more models in larger sizes but LaSpo makes a few. My favorite shoe was the old Techno X but apparently they fit no one but me :-(

My current stack of shoes:

5.8 finales with socks

5.9 mythos

5.10 techno x

5.11 Butora velcros

5.12 anti gravity boots ;-)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
