Subject line says it all. Pictured below are two #4 BD stoppers of different generations. On the new ones they have thoughtfully added the stopper size to the information on the swage sleeve. However, there is something else that appears new, variable(?) kn ratings. 6/2 on the #4s, 6/3 on the #5s, 10/3 on the #6s, 10/6 on the #7s, and 10/8 on the #8s. I don’t have a new #9 on hand but the new #10 is labeled simply as 10 kn. The new #3s likewise have a single rating of 5kn. Anyone care to enlighten me about these new “variable” kn ratings?
It's the minimum failure load when placed in different orientations, as described in the product instructions. Meaning, it will hold at least that much. Interesting that the #3 is 5 Kn all around. Is there a difference in cable size between the two?
Thanks! Looks like the 3, 4, & 5 are all the same cable while the 6 and above share a larger size cable in common. At least that’s how it appears to the eye.
