First set of ice tools (Nomics v Quarks)

Hey there, I'm heading over to NZ in a couple of weeks to do an ice climbing course for five days. Decided to grab a pair of ice tools (already own a ice axe) and I'm tossing up between the Petzl Nomics and Quarks. Afterwards I'll be staying for a bit and climbing with a mate, doing relatively easy routes and general mountaineering with mostly steep snow pitches and potentially a few ice pitches.

In the next 1-2 years I'm also planning to move to the Alps and climb as much possible, with my eyes set on lots of alpine/ice/mixed routes.

Considering I'm a relative beginner and may not be climbing harder routes for awhile, would I be better off getting Quarks or charging the Nomics?

I know I have a lot of routes ahead of me where I'll be daggering and climbing steep gully's where Nomics will be overkill, but will be good to have when I start encountering harder terrain and I figured I'll save money in the long run with the Nomics, but let me know your thoughts

Quarks are better for mountaineering. If you become an ice monster, you’ll want Nomics.

Kinda hard to predict who takes to ice climbing and who doesn’t.

You'll want them both eventually, but for now I'd get the Quarks. Might be worth it to invest in a set of pick weights and Pur'ice picks to swap out depending on objectives.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
