North Dakota - Maah Daah Hey - Boulders spotted??

Hi! I'm an east coast climber in Williston for the summer and was biking along the Maah Daah Hey trail when I found some boulders by the ice caves. I might be late to this because I might have seen some chalk, but does anyone know anything about climbing in this area? Legality/safety/history? I attached some pictures of some of the boulders and faces I saw. Some of it did feel pretty loose and like soft sandstone but the darker rock felt a little firmer...

Anyways I would love to meet up with people to explore more! I'd also take any tips on climbing in this area! Anyone got info or interested?

Did you try anything? Usually the rock is too crumbly here

I'm not in ND anymore but the Northern Buttey guidebook ($10 digital download here, no longer in print: dakotawalz.com/product-page…) has a section on the Ice Caves, and it's on National Grassland so is open to the public and to climbing. There has been at least one recorded golden eagle nest there, so be careful if you see anything like that because it's illegal to disturb them and could interfere with future access, but as far as I know there are no official raptor closures. Generally they nest from April to July. Anyway, the book has some info! (including all the eagle info)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
