Updates for Summer 2025 at Lover's Leap

Campground Opening

EldoNF reports that the Lover's Leap Campground should be open as of today 5/23 for the Summer 2025 season. EldoNF also suggests that you can send feedback and questions to both Royal Elk Park Management and to the EldoNF office.

Please consider being very careful with campfires this season as we already seeing wildfires and red flag warnings in California.

Strawberry Station Saturday Evening Burger Nights

Squirrel, Jen and Company are bringing back Burger Nights on Saturdays at Strawberry Station. Come eat and socialize and keep Strawberry going strong with a donation for tasty burgers.

I'll be there many/most nights sometimes with Lover's Leap Guides running drop in climbing gear clinics and "ask a guide" fireside chats; also donation based.

CRAGS & Access Fund Trailwork Season

CRAGS - the GREATER Sacramento Area Climbers' Coalition - is running our annual trailwork season at the Leap between June 19 and July 13.

We'll have open volunteer days - Adopt-a-Crag Events - on Sat 6/28, Sat 7/5, Thurs 7/10, Sat 7/12 & Sun 7/20; if you're part of an organization/corporation in the outdoor space that wants to have your own trailwork day with the CRAGS/Access Fund teams then let me know. As usual we'll be partnering some days with the BACC and TCC and possibly other partner organization.

We'll be having our annual summer fundraiser party - Lover's Fest - on Saturday 7/12 at 6pm at Strawberry Station - catered food, live music, raffle prizes, fun times, and more - stay tuned for more details. Entrance/food will probably be $20 per person, with additional raffle tickets for sale.

On Sunday 7/13 Lover's Leap Guides will host FREE clinics for trailwork volunteers and fundraiser attendees. Again more info coming soon.

On a less fun note - there are reports of breakins at the Slippery Ford (East Wall) Parking area. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles. Consider parking in the main lot/areas. We'll be making an attempt at "neighborhood watch" monitoring to keep this from becoming a repeat/regular occurrence.

Snakes and wasps/bees are already out as well.

Thanks all and enjoy the summer.

Thanks to everyone who came out for Lover's Fest - it was HUGE this year!!! Bigger and better every year, it takes a whole lot of work and collaboration with many different people and organizations in all of our different climbing communities. Thanks to you all for supporting Lover's Leap, Strawberry and the Highway 50 climbing scene.

Bump for ONE MORE day this coming Sunday 7/20 with the Women's Lead Club!

We're taking a break for a week or two after this but we'll be back with bi-monthly trail days at the Leap and Spires later this summer, then we'll shift to the Loaf, Auburn and Consumnes when it gets cold and wet this Fall and Winter.

Look for our continued work with our local climbing communities and different climbing areas...thanks again to all of our many volunteers - we've had over 125 volunteer days this month and 200 people came out for Lover's Fest! I love getting to work with so many different people in our area, so thanks again.
