I was chatting with some Brits about winter climbing on the isle and they described some pro they used for sketchy semi-frozen turf.  Basically what they described to be sounded like the tines on a garden rake that could be folded up like a fan when racked but unfolded and pounded in turf for pro.  Sounded 'sporty.'  They also told me it was made by one of the big Brit gear companies but I checked WC and DMM and could not find anything like what they described.   Anybody know what they were talking about?

Never seen or heard of anything like that. I think they were messing with you.

If you wanted to be sure and are ready to get laughed at, try posting on the UKC forums.

Frozen turf, moss, desperate top-out with nothing but a tree root? These and only these from now on:

DMM made it.  It looked like 4 oversized bulldogs that were chained together.  Never heard of them being used for protection, just rappel anchors.
