Remember the film Billy Bud? Great Ironic ending. Melville's finale is different I think. They march him to the yardarms in shackles. Do thier thing in the name of justice. Round the headland and

Being in favor of something (or turning a blind eye) when one side does something and then being against it when the other side does something similar just doesn’t work. Another example: Tesla’s and electric cars were the darlings of the Left until Musk started hanging out with Trump… Now the left is setting them on fire. WTF. That is not something that the "left" are doing. A few examples adds up to what percent? .00001% ? Taking an extreme exception does NOT define a group. The "group" does not support vandalism. That is typical false logic - standard procedure from the right wing. And people can boycott Tesla without being against EVs.

Its not even in the same order of magnitude of leagues It's possible there's a small number of low information voters who really don't understand the difference but most such individuals don't bother to vote at all. From what I've seen the remainder use the both sides argument to justify their support for him without being overtly maga.

So it's not safe to say that what we have now is the result of both sides sucking so bad? I keep hearing about these ignorant buffoons that caused this by their votes but it goes way deeper. Our society has been treat trained like dogs, no other country on the planet consumes like we do. People don't give much of a shit about anything until it affects their wallet, which in our case is the ability to buy so much crap or have so much time playing. Business as usual definitely was due for a reset. Phew, I need more coffee, had a great climb session yesterday and am feeling it this morning!

The dems will feed 100 people to ensure that one of them wont go hungy.. The repugs with take food away from 100 people just because they think one of them doesn't deserve it. if you have to settle for imperfection which is life BTW I will take the former every time.

Not an actual climbing photo. But I did earn an honorary membership in the Big Creek Little Wall Society this week by helping a friend get his gear from the top of kerkhoff dome.

Climbing photo time in the thread! Me almost exactly 3 years ago today getting me-ARSE handed to me on the Kor-Ingalls route on Castleton tower! And yes I was wearing a helmet but this is exiting the third pitch after burying myself in the chimney which was not wide enough for my helmet which I had to remove and clip to the outside of my harness to fit in the chimney. Man that route kicked my butt but just so insanely classic!!! Graduation day here at West Point tomorrow with the President coming in. I tried to flee the Madness and go to Rumney but now there is definite rain and possibly even SNOW forecasted there this weekend so I am staying put and hiding! Hopefully going to the Gunks on Monday with Dragons and, as I am sure it will be busy, "getting in line" for my first ever lead there. I've led 5.8 in RMNP and in New England and in Europe but I've never led a route at the Gunks! Looking for an easy one out the gate. Maybe Betty, or Three Pines, or Easy O? Cannot wait!

Betty is much more fun than three pines. Jelly roll in my memory was funny thirty years ago. Gelsa was one of the best days climbing I’ve ever had, and the nears are going to be less crowded than the trapps. Horseman is fun, but the uberfall area is going to be a mob scene.

But waiting in line for a climb at the Gunks is better than indoor climbing or not climbing at all and as I live only one hour away, it's just a quick trip to buy my annual pass and check it out with a new outdoor partner. I'll be happy with a single climb. And I'm keeping it 5.4 and down for my first lead there.

Something I no longer have, entire PT sessions are devoted to me standing on one leg and keeping my balance. I fell off a 12 inch diameter log into a creek last year, must be careful. I hope Tony’s surgery went well. At our advanced age these things go south sometimes. I want to say “Thank you” to all the Veterans, living or dead, on this Memorial Day weekend. Because of you we are able to live in a free country. A country where you can say anything you want to say about our “leaders”, true or false, and get away with it. Many people on this earth don’t have that luxury. I know that didn’t come easy to US. It was bought and paid for with blood and sacrifice by brave men and women willing to die for me. Thank You. To celebrate- we are off to Fish Creek to enjoy the Mountains, the Fishing and the Climbing. I guarantee the place won’t be “mobbed”. Probably be less than 10 people there.
everybody have a great weekend, be safe.

Gelsa is awesome, but the last pitch is kinda sketchy. I first lead it in the 70’s as a newbie. When I did Roseland (5.9) into the upper pitch of it in the 90’s I was climbing at a far higher standard, but I couldn’t believe how loose it was. None of the gear looked trustworthy if you actually had the misfortune to fall.
