Im headed to the valley at the start of May and my partner and I are considering doing the southwest face of liberty cap. Any beta would be amazing.
im super curious if the bivvy ledge on p7 (or maybe p6? topo is a bit confusing) is large enough to sleep on or if a portaledge will be necessary

I remember the ledge being big enough to sleep on. But more importantly, I remember thinking that the route would be terrible to haul (mostly the upper few pitches). Id recommend blasting it in a day instead of hauling. Idk if you're allowed to sleep at the base, but that'd be a good strategy if it's too intimidating to go Valley to Valley

Word, thanks Taylor. We are gunna do our best to get it done in a day, its one of the last routes on the trip so hopefully we will be pretty well dialed by then.

Ledge was very cozy!

No need for portaledge.

I agree with Taylor it would be a smoother lower energy expenditure ascent without a haul bag.

That said it's a great hang above the falls. We really loved this route!!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
