Planning a trip to for first week of June and was hoping y'all could lend some wisdom about heading up to The Hulk the first week of June. Looks like there's ticks as early as late-May the past couple years. Should we expect a lot of snow on the approach that early in the season? Crampons/axes necessary? Hoping to avoid too much faff.
If Tioga opens by then, we'd probably also be looking to do some time in Tuolumne- will take on adivce on that as well if you have any.
We had also talked about Third Pillar of Dana but hear the descent to the base would be too snowy still?
You will most likely need pons and an axe to get up the snow covered steep talus about a 1/2 mile before the hulk camping area, and back down as well. And watch for thin sections around the waterfalls, there have been near fatal accidents here in the past.
it's possible but unlikely o have some snow at the start of pv, but venturi or power Rangers starts will still have some snow to get over to access the rock.
For 3rd pillar, the approach will be soggy, but one can now rappel to the base of the formation utilizing the bolted anchors on high gravity.

Thanks, Alex. Thats good beta.
I assume we'll start on PV or Red Dihedral as a first route on the formation and push harder from there.
