Thanks for the info |

I think it's soft opening - everyone's been doing it, just rap the route don't do the new rap route left |

Does that same message apply to serenity and sons? |

That's what I heard from Greg Stock the park geologist, that all the climbs are to be reopened for the season. Greg was the one who told them to close them, so while the official message hasn't been posted by the NPS that seems like pretty reliable data that that is the direction we're headed......of course the NPS managers read these post and can chime in anytime lol |

Not sure when Erik talked to Greg, but I spoke with Greg today and he confirmed that the closure is very much still in effect… |

Just spoke with Greg - baring new rockfall activity the plan is to reopen the closed area this year. Unfortunately for climbers the closure includes part of the Valley Loop Trail and the Ahwahnee parking lot, so it's not as easy as the climbing managers saying it is ok to open - the various other park managers involved have to agree and make the necessary changes to reopen those areas. Greg also wanted to emphasize that he is not certain that it is perfectly safe - the crack is still growing.....they just don't know how long it will take to fall off, and they can't keep the cliff closed forever - but if before the park managers come together to reopen the area there is significant widening of the crack, it is also possible it will remain closed for another season. I know this is frustrating just wanted to touch base because I had heard before that it was slated to reopen this spring, but that was before the Superintendent left, etc... |

Thanks for the background and info! Hope this area can open soon and we’re not climbing this when it turns into an off width or chimney |
