Looking for a climbing partner for indoor and outdoor climbing trips and training. I have 10 years of consistent climbing experience around the country and have done nearly every form of climbing and have all the gear. Any experience level welcome. Check my I just moved up here on the 1st and have officially annoyed my girlfriend enough to find more partners to climb with (:
I live in San Jose and have membership to Movement and regularly visit any of the South Bay gyms. Looking to do more trips to Mickeys, Diablo, Napa, Tahoe, Yosemite and even Pinnacles (because I’m a climbing masochist). Can project or chill, can boulder or multipitch, can bitch my way up anything.
General advice on the area in terms of anything relevant would also be greatly appreciated.

Hey, sounds like we have a pretty similar level of climbing experience, and I also moved to the South Bay recently after living in the east bay for a few years.

I’m very close to Castle Rock SP and also have a movement membership. I’d be excited to do trad, sport or bouldering at any of the areas you listed and can climb/boulder at castle after work on pretty much any weekday.

Edit: Would also like to add that I’m currently preparing for my first big wall later this year. I’d like to try the South Face of Washington Column some time in the fall. I’m hoping to meet other people that might be interested in practicing big wall techniques together and who might be interested in joining this fall.

I will join in here. Matt and I know each other. He is a great guy and solid climber.

Joy, I like your (anti?) political comment.

I am interested in week days at Castle Rock, or Pinnacles. Tuesday or Thursdays. Weekend maybe. Mostly easy to moderate stuff for me.

For those of you who don't know me, I am just getting back to climbing after a 20 year layoff. I was active 1972-about 2004. I was a guide at the Yosemite Mountaineering School in the 80's and 90's. If you just want a belay, that's ok. If I can help you, that's ok. Especially if you want help upping your trad leading game, I might be able to help. Feel free to DM.

I’ll toss my hat into the ring here as well, South Bay local. Starting to climb outside more and I’m regularly at Movement Sunnyvale 2-3x a week, and trying to find folks to do mellow outdoor stuff or High Sierra adventure/alpine climbs.

I’m about 8 months into my return to climbing after not climbing rocks in over 20 years. The last climbing I did was bouldering and freesolo adventures in Santa Barbara and LA while I was in college and much stronger.
But now, I just want to climb cool mountains, lol.

Goals:  Getting stronger at outdoor sport, wanting to learn trad.

a fine example of mental gymnastics. it said it dislikes people on the right and implied that it's a leftist. hard to get more politicized than erased

Since this thread has been recently popular, let me join in rather than starting a new one.  Moved to California a few years ago, located in the South Bay, have been climbing in the gym consistently for about a year and a half, just recently had my first trip outdoors following someone up an easy trad multipitch and it was amazing, so I want to do more!  I am also usually at Movement Sunnyvale (occasionally Santa Clara) two or three times a week, but could get out some days during the week and on weekends.

I have done my fair share of hiking, camping, and backpacking, but I am obviously still extremely new to outdoor climbing.  Right now I think easy to moderate routes at the local-ish Bay Area destinations would be great to get started on.  Mount Diablo and Pinnacles are similar drives for me.  I'm more interested in staying safe, having fun, and spending time outside rather than pushing my limits, at least for the foreseeable future.  But I will happily belay somebody willing to share their time and experience at any level.  Short term I feel comfortable with the basics, so I am just looking to get my sea (rock?) legs under me and make some climbing buddies with similar interests.  Longer term I want to learn trad and make my way up and down some multipitch climbs.  Sport or even top-roping some fun routes is fine by me as well.  I'm more inclined towards rope climbing, but I could be talked into bouldering to mix things up at times.  If I can get enough experience to make it worthwhile I would love some trips to Yosemite, Tahoe, etc down the road.

If that sounds like somebody you'd like to climb with, feel free to message me :)

Down for some cragging weekends or to go be a masochist somewhere! (Incoming joke) Strictly open to climbing with people that aren’t narrow minded and are open to being around people of all backgrounds. At the crag you may run into conservatives or liberals, you should be prepared to converse with both as we fly past them on routes haha, jk. Or am I?!

welcome to the bay Iain! Not a ton of quality climbing in the immediate area but enough to keep you from going crazy from lack of exposure. I love a few lines at Mt Diablo in lower tier, specifically bolt line, and diagnol crack. Some cool stuff in north bay by Mickey’s beach, and haven’t done a ton in castle rock but would love to check it out again.

I really enjoyed my time at the grotto and gold wall for a further out day trip too.

If you are up to no good this weekend, hit me up! Or just shoot me a text and we can try and coordinate something soon. Ideally looking for adventure days leading up to 5.10+ on gear. Otherwise, let’s get some miles in, in preparation for sending some gnarly 5.11 on gear!

Anyone interested in Mickey's beach and/or Jailhouse this Wednesday or Friday weather depending?

Hello, I moved to Downtown Oakland in late February this year (2025) and I’m looking for a partner for some sport climbing outdoors.

I’m just now climbing again after a year and a half break because of a shoulder injury and then other distractions.
I’m new to sport climbing and I’ve never climbed indoors much. Last time I had a gym membership was in 2017. All my experience is outside on top rope or trad as a follower. I’m rebuilding my skill and strength, so I’m limited for now to 5.9 and easier 10. Thinking of joining the Great Western Power Co. gym on Telegraph as it’s less than a mile from me.
If you’re new-ish to sport and want a partner to learn with, I’m looking for the same.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
