Temps still look a wee bit too hot, but will no doubt start to cool off. I think i might like to start around sunset to try and keep winds as low as possible. My wife may or may not be willing to help again, so I'd look to cache food/water along the route and would need to figure out the car shuttle.
I'm definitely in better bike shape than last year, but still probably looking at a 13.5 hr (10mph) planning factor.
Would still prefer EB, but open to any route.
Schedule fairly flexible and def willing to burn some vacation days to make a wearher/partner window work out.
If you want to join for any part or if you could help with the bike logistics please let me know!
Awesome Dave! I've done it in mid-november and the temps were actually pretty nice. Definitely hot in the middle of the day, but cool (enough) launching from Badwater Basin, and it cooled down enough when we were making that final climb from Lone Pine to Whitney Portal. We definitely had support on our ride, but I think if you plan it out, you could use some of the stores and restaurants as re-fuel locations.
I am so happy you're getting back on this! If I lived anywhere near, you know I'd be all in. Best of luck to you, and may the gotez be ever in your favor.
