George RR Martin is inching ahead with an anticipated release date of Winter 2028. Strangely, his new tome, The Winds of Winter, is rumored to have far more beta on Valley climbing |

Bump! |

Well I"m down to just a few copies of this book, Rock Climbing Yosemite VAlley and have started collecting beta on new climbs to include in the next edition. Some ideas of what to add so far: 1. written descriptions of the climbs! 2. updated parking and trail conditions as they have changed, and changed and changed over the last few years 3. more awesome routes! I put a one pitch 5.6 bit by Swan Slab called Zubooster the Rooster that'll make it and a really cool 5.4 scramble called Oslo the Bear which I even took my buddy Tom, who we call the world's smartest man, on - Tom climbs 5.11 off the couch and had the nerve to say he wasn't sure it was even 5.4, lol let me have my glory haha |

Some ideas about your comprehensive book: start with chapter - introduction about stuard-ship in the valley for last 20 years. Also please add essential information about bears, crows and dears activities . Why bears not always hibernating? How they cooperate with ravens to steal [edited] climbing equipment ( specifically camalots C4 ) and later sell them on eBay. |

Alexey's genuine typos often give me a few chuckles. Don't stop. Yesterday, I saw the comment when I got back in reception while going through El Portal and did a quick scan on MP. I swear it was posted half an hour back right at the time when I wondered out loud "wait, why is the bear not hibernating?" because we passed a young bear patiently waiting to cross Hwy 140. He -- Alexey, not the bear -- brought up a good point to put in the guidebook more information about the ravens/crows and critters. If it's already in the book, please make it more visible, or area specific. People are more aware of bears, thinking hanging their bag will keep their stuff safe. In my observation, the birds are very active around the Cathedral area (including the peaks and spires), and they WILL get in bags if they think there is anything worth digging for and they leave trash strewn around. There needs to be more awareness among climbers who often have a need to leave their packs on the ground. |

Just a psa, hibernation doesn’t mean they are in comas, just less active and taking longer rests |

Oh that's cool you saw the bear Mei - I think they are begging, it's a common tactic the animals all learn to walk on the road and people stop and throw them treats.....whaddyagonnado lol |

Hey Erik! Just as info, I was referring to the Hartouni et al book. Are those guys around still? |

W L wrote: I talked with Ed Hartouni last summer and the guidebooks (yes, plural) are still moving ahead. They are in QA stage to ensure accuracy, and they are working with a publisher. No release date yet, but it will happen. (Edited to improve grammar) |
