Good LA gym with crack features
I’ll be visiting LA in a few weeks (west LA) but was curious where the best gym for crack climbing is in the city? Willing to drive a decent amount to get there since it’ll just be a single session |

If you are in West LA, Sender LAX may be the closest. They have some OK cracks. I like them better than the ones at the Stronghold. |
Cliffs of Id has 8-9 cracks for ropes climbing if I remember correctly. They are all splitter with no constructions like some gyms have, and feel like sandpaper, so you would want crack gloves. It’s a good mix of sizes. |
I’ve never been to that one Ahnita. My “local” gyms are Sender SNA and The Post in Pasadena. I may have to check it out at some point. |
Rockreation (west la) has a nice featured couple of cracks that are built to resemble actual rock. Super fun! |
Stronghold has 3 cracks molded into the concrete. Width varies the entire climb. These climb like outdoor routes. Every other LA gym has cracks made out of that purchased walltopia type climbing ecosystem board with rough texture and they’re all splitters. If you want something better than either of those, head to Mesa rim in SD (forget which one - but it’s the one geographically in the middle). Best indoor cracks in socal and they’re concrete |

Thanks for all the suggestions! I know it's a long shot, but are there any LA gyms with off width features? or what is the closest off width (real rock or gym setting) to LA? Lol. Dreaming of something like this: youtube.com/watch?v=zfASsUj… |

the video that you’re showing - nothing like that in LA to that level cliffs of Id would be your closest by way and far for volume. They have thin, hands, and fist sizes and one off-off width size. Haven’t been to “class 5” - you could give them a call and see what they got. stronghold only has finger to hands SAn Diego Mesa gym has an 18in ish offwidth
