Who is adding bolts to historically mixed routes like Freebase and Snow Blind? There are plenty of sport crags and relatively few gear lines in Calico. Unless PVB himself requested it done -- I am doubtful -- leaving it alone seems like the proper ethic and good form.

One 40-foot wall with a bit of adventure climbing doesn't need to be gridbolted.

I agree, wish the mixed lines would stay as they are rather than become sport routes.

Like picking up trash from the trail it's easy enough to restore these routes to original protection conditions. This is a great PSA and all but taking action... well now then you'd really be saying something. It sucks people do this but left unchecked chronic bolting disease only spreads faster.

I don’t live here and didn’t bring any power tools with me on my relaxed crag day. Judging by the comments on MP, the new bolts seemed like a fairly recent addition. I thought the community should be informed … also, I don't know which bolts were original and which were added!

Controversy aside, some cool routes over there. Would recommend if you want a short walk, some solitude, and some quick pitches.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
