linking bar too short?

Hi, I have petzl dart crampons. My boots are G5 size 46.  I would like to move the toe bail to the back slot to extend the secondaries as much as possible. Unfortunately this is where the darks hit their size limit.  I am one notch on the linking bar short from being able to move the toe bail back.

Anyone have any suggestions for me?  What are your thoughts on me finding an appropriate grade and gauge of sheet metal and cutting out a custom linking bar on my cnc plasma cutter. I've never made my own climbing gear before and I'm aware this carries some risk lol.

I don't climb on darts and I have easy to size 43's so not sure but I believe Petzl makes an extra long linking bar for this scenario

Oh wow, I didn't realize the "Barrettes" is the large one.  Stupid branding honestly.  Instead of just having S/M/L they have two different models. I thought barrettes was just the name they give to their linking bars and that it was simply the replacement for the one that comes with the crampons.  Not the "L" accessory.

Darts have a size range up to about 44, for larger boots the Lynx is a better choice. The linking bar included with Darts is only compatible with Darts.

The asymmetrical barrettes sold separately work with all Petzl steel crampons and is what comes stock for Irvis, Sarken, Vasak, and Lynx. Keep in mind that pairing this more asymmetric bar with the asymmetric Dart forefoot can cause some point alignment issues in the larger sizes.

Christian definitely knows what he is talking about, I do have the long "barrettes" with Darts and size 47.5 G-Summit and they just barely fit. Like, last hole fit. They worked fine on my 46.5 Scarpa Phantom tech guides.

I too use the longer bar on my darts. I found the point position fine. But I now think I want to check with the original bar where the point ends up, as I didn't know it changed anything.

I take size 45, original bar works on my G5, but not my Nepal's.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
