Edelweiss harness
|
|
I new guy showed up to climb and had an Edelweiss Harness. Brand new. I have never heard of them. I contacted company and the harness is made in Madagascar...but much climbing gear is made in places you might not think it is made in. my question is ....does anyone have experience with this brand and is it safe? I see a thread on MP that really trashes Edelweiss Ropes.....So.......that is sus. |

They're real. Beal makes their ropes in madagascar.they probably make edelweiss ropes. I'm not sure why edelweiss ropes are trash if Beal makes them because Beal makes excellent gear. |

Edelweiss is a reputable brand. Some of their gear is rebranded Beal gear. Beal is also a reputable brand. No need to worry. |

Not “sus” at all. Edelweiss has been making climbing gear since the 50’s years. Totally legit. Maybe not the sexiest stuff, but legit. |

I have several Edelweiss harnesses they are great. The new ones are super sexy. Some of their ropes crap out, but some of them are awesome. The performance 9.2mm is a great durable light rope. Edelweiss and Beal are both distributed by Liberty Mountain in the U.S. |

Climbed sport with a rope in the 80s. Good one. It was very expensive back then so only bought once from this brand. It's French: https://www.edelweiss-ropes.com/en

Thanks. HN2 agreed they are reliable. PS- I also like Beal. |

I also like Beal for sport and Edelweiss but don't remember the name of the rope I used in the past. 9mm. |

I also think Beal is great. Great ropes, great harnesses. |
