I am on the search for a new backpack for my commute and day hiking since I am starting to hate my current backpack. Ideally, I am looking for something that I can use for bring my lunch and other work stuff to the office, and use for day hiking. Below are the requirements for my new backpack. If people have a bag they like and use the same way I do, let me know!

  • Ideally 22-25L
  • Waist belt (padded or webbing)
  • durable enough for day hiking and commuting
  • hydration bladder compatible (preferred)

So far I have looked at Mystery Ranch and Osprey but I am open to other brands!

Blue Ice Wadi 22/32

edit: I recommended this thinking you were asking for climbing and not hiking; this is a more climbing focused bag

The wadi is great, I like my Bug, there are many small bags in the world that work for hiking

I think you have to try a few on and see what fits your body best for what you need to carry and how long.

Patagonia Black hole 25 or 32? Great daily carry bag with laptop compartment, can work for hiking just fine too. Lots of pockets.

This is a climbing-specific forum so you will get mostly recommendations for climbing packs.

HMG Daybreak is on sale a lot of places I’ve seen

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
