Hey all, is trad climbing possible in the Dacks during Jan/Feb or mostly iced over? If it is I'd love to make a trip up late January early February for a few days and would need a partner!

You’ll have a much higher chance of success in the gunks.

The odds of it being climbable are very very slim.. You may find some dry lines but god dam is it cold up there in February. If you're looking for a day to go fuck around hike to some stuff and maybe climb if you can then sure why not.. but if climbing is real goal then I'd say head to the gunks but even they are quite fickle in the winter months.

The Web is sunny in the winter if the temps are reasonable

Even with global warming, Jan/Feb rock in the Daks/Gunks is very low probability for a few days of OK rock climbing. If you are nearby, you could take advantage of the occasional nice day/afternoon. Maybe you could luck into a weather window and head there on short notice for a few days.

The Gunks are warmer, but the rock is white and doesn't get afternoon sun. So you might be better off with something at the Daks with dark rock that faces south.

Thanks for all the responses, I've been freezing up at the gunks this winter so was looking to check out a new area. I will likely head to NC/Tennessee or St George/Colorado instead depending on my new job!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
