I have an extra day in New Mexico on Saturday, February 1st and it'll be my first time visiting the state. I'll be in Albuquerque during the week but I'm willing to head anywhere for a solid day of climbing, or skiing, or scrambling to a summit.

Any areas I should prioritize given current conditions? Favorite little weekday jaunts near Albuquerque? Feel free to DM me if you need a partner, can bring souvenirs from the PNW :)

Good to see a fellow PNWer in the desert! For skiing, Ski Santa Fe (~1.5hrs from ABQ) is pretty great — good small-mountain vibe with some real terrain to back it up. Climbing-wise, there’s a ton of fun stuff around ABQ that I’m sure others would be better suited to direct you towards, but if you’re interested in coming just a bit north Diablo Canyon offers some sweet basalt in the sun (~1.25 hours from ABQ). LMK if you’re looking for a partner for that Saturday!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
