Cochise - Sheepshead - lost #3

A #3 BD cam unclipped from my harness on yesterday (Monday, January 6) as we hiked up the gully to the right of Sheepshead to climb Phony Pony. We noticed it missing at the top of pitch one and came back to search after we topped out. We hiked up again today and searched extensively but couldn’t find it. I’ll be at Cochise for another week if anyone finds it. We think an animal may have hauled it off.

I spent a couple hours last week looking all over left and right of the gully and wasn’t able to find the lost cam. I believe it was carted off by a coatimundi. My climbing partner saw a single coatimundi in the gully a couple days earlier while belaying pitch 1 on Stampede. The coatimundi traveled up the gully past Stampede and Phony Pony.

I connected with the only other party in the gully the day we were there and they didn’t find the cam.
