Hello,

My wife and I are planning to visit Turkey and plan on climbing in Geyikbayiri for a couple weeks and can't decide where to stay. I'm looking to get some input on if staying in Antalya (west end) and driving to the climbing is a good idea, or to just stay in Geyikbayiri? We plan on climbing most days, but also want to check out other stuff when we're there. Curious if driving to the climbing most days is no big deal, or if its suggested to stay closer to the climbing.

Thanks!

While the drive from Antalya is pretty straightforward the road isn't in the best shape and there could be slow traffic, especially closer to the city. Personally, if you will have a car anyway and climbing is your primary focus, then I think that staying near the crag ( nice places to stay)makes the most sense---almost all crags easily walkable from the principal accommodations. Do your driving on the non-climbing days---plenty of interesting places to visit easily done in a day trip.

Definitely stay in Geyikbayiri. It's beautiful up there and you'll kick yourself having to do the commute most days and having missed out on staying in that gorgeous environment.

I had a car when I went and would just drive to Antalya on occasion to stock up at the grocery store or do whatever else in the city on rest days. Definitely the best of both worlds.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
