Any company/ shop that you would recommend in the rocky mountain region or by mail, to resole a pair of shoes (preferably cheap)?

By mail I've used Yosamite Bum exclusively with really good results. I think I'm going to use backcountry cobbler next, I've heard really good things.

I walk or drive by two resole places a couple times a week. If the rubber is the same and the glueing is not falling appar I don’t see why I have to ship them all the way to California.

It seems a bit ignorant not to take into account the quality of workmanship being a massive differentiatior. If the two places you pass do great work, sure. But if you don't know and want a sure thing, there's good names in this thread (+1 for The Rubber Room, I used them multiple times per year).

I mean just go look at other resole threads recently and you'll see people complaining that the resoles they had done didn't last, fell apart, weren't as high quality as other resolers they've used, etc.

The reason why I stopped using the Rubber Room years ago was that resole turn-around took at least three months. One time, they kept our shoes for almost six months.
However, I had no complaints about the craftsmanship.

Very fair complaint. I have 3 pairs of TC pros because I know that each pair will take 10-12 weeks before I get it back and so I need backups. They've never taken more than 12 weeks and that's across 3 years of sending them resoles a few times each year.

But yeah man, 6 months would never work for me. That's nuts.

Rubber Room is the best on the planet, go with XS grip 2 period. I have seen the work these guys you fellows talk about, do your self a favor go with the Rubber Room. But then I have only been climbing 57 years, seriously guys why not go with the best you can get. best regards Bob Crawford...

Rubber Room is great, but I'll disagree on the Grip 2 - I think C4 is clear step up, and wish we still had some of the other compounds from old Five Ten (Mystique and Onyxx).

Valley Shoe Repair in Yucca Valley is who I use.  Reasonable cost and turn-around and first rate work.  https://www.valleyshoerepair.com/rock-resole

Rubber Room all the way.

Had a terrible experience with Positive Resoles. Send in 3 pairs. Two got toecaps replaced that did not require new caps. All 3 shoes had the rubber delam within a week from start using them. They stated it’s due to poor technique even though I could pull half the rubber off by hand, which they stated would be delam due to poor glue bond.

When I send them in, they half ass reglued them and just sprinkled ground up rubber over the area where they delaminated. On top charged me $20 for shipping….

I have only ever had one pair resoled, but I had no complaints with Yosemite Bum. The work was great and the turn around time was accurate.

I had a terrible resole done by rubber room. Backcountry Cobblers in Lander is my go to

In this thread - Most resolers will get great and terrible reviews.

Hah just received a DM from bob crawford saying “let it go, that’s your problem not mine” I’m assuming because I said I had a bad experience with rubber room resoles? Strange…

Edit: just noticed he deleted all his glowing recommendations for rubber room, and is not on this thread anymore, so moot point. Still strange! More strange? Hah

Molly, please accept my apology for my knee jerk reaction, As I feel you your opinion is as important as any, and do not doubt your veracity. You deserve better for your attempt to help your fellow climbers. My experience with the Rubber Room has been exemplary, but humans make mistakes, as my stupid reaction to your remarks reveal. And you may be on to something, some drummers find my inability to notice the dotted 8th note on certain jazz songs very "strange." Molly I wish you safe climbing and best regards. Bob Crawford...

I would put in a second plug for Back Country Resolers in Lander, Wy.  I am not sure about turn around for sending in shoes.  It has always been about a week for me dropping them off in person, but maybe that is just a perk for locals.  Best resoler I have used in 30 years of climbing.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
